Back to work :(

Brian and I are both teachers and so we both had the summer off. We had so much fun just spending time with Madelyn and watching her grow. She's now 51/2 months, 28 inches long, and about 17 1/2 lbs! Here are some fun pics from the summer.

Jason, We will miss you

On August 12th of last week, my step-brother Jason Lucykow took his own life. Jason was 16 and to be a junior at Litchfield High School. He was an excellent wrestler and he was a wonderful friend. Unfortanately, no one had any idea how unhappy he actually was. You read about these things in the newspaper, but you never think it will happen to your family.

We had just recently gotten back from a family vacation with my dad and step-mom Karin. We had all gone to Lake of the Ozarks, and stayed in condos right next door to each other. This is a picture of Uncle Jason holding Madelyn. We all had a very fun week, especially hanging out with three 16 year old boys (Jason and his two friends, Andrew and Mithchell)!

I know that Jason is in a better place now, but it is hard that he isn't here anymore for his family and friends. I just wish that we would have had an idea that Jason was unhappy because maybe this could have been prevented. We will all miss him and not a day will go by that we won't think of him. We love you Jay!

Eating baby food!

Dr. Lugge said that it was time to start giving Madelyn baby food since she's 5 months old and the bottle just isn't filling her up anymore. So I went out on Sunday and got green beans, carrots, and peas. Last night we started her with green beans, and let me tell ya...she wasn't havin' it! She did fine with eating it, but she did not like the taste at all. She actually shivered after eating it! Is it bad that I laughed?? Near the end of the video she is completely babbling, and I think she's telling me where I can shove those green beans! We'll keep trying because I refuse to have her be a picky eater like her father!

Creating a blog!

From what I've heard (Lauren Mortensen), blogging is the new thing so I thought I would try it. I think it will be pretty cool since Brian and I have some relatives that live far away from us. Now they can see updates of Madelyn all the time. We just got back from the Lake of the Ozarks. All of us had a really good time. Madelyn really liked the water.

We had Adam's 1st birthday party on Saturday. I can't believe he's one already! Here's a picture of all the kids from the party. Trevor, Adam, Madelyn, and Karissa. So cute!!
